Disgusted By “The Fabulous Life of”

As old as I am, I quit watching stupid television shows many years ago and I don’t have a use for reality TV (I don’t find anything real with reality TV). fabBut as I was feeding my baby the other evening and was browsing through the channels and came across a show on VH1 called “The Fabulous Life of” and this particular episode was about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Uh-oh. I don’t know what I was thinking to even stop on that channel, I guess you could apply that saying about curiosity killing the cat. (Kind of like that time when I was in my 20s and went to a local strip club with my sister and I couldn’t help but watch the fat girl stripper trying to pole dance.)

Anyway, I didn’t even watch the whole episode; I only caught about the last 20 minutes or so but it was enough to disgust me.

How in the world is it okay for Kanye to have his bottom teeth removed and diamond teeth put in place? How is it okay for Kim K to have gold flake facials or spend 1.7 million on a car for her honey? There are people without jobs, without homes, children without food or clothing, and “Kimye” (stupid name) spend millions on crap. The series said that she has over half a million dollars worth of a name-brand bag (50 of these bags, according to the show). Who in the world ever needs 50 bags? Who in their right minds would spend half a million bucks on these bags? It is insane!

The show went on and on about all the money they spend and with each item I just felt more and more revolted. It was literally disgusting to me. Twelve hundred dollars on a single dress for their baby, something that the little girl could only wear a handful of times (though I’m sure she will probably only wear it once, since her parents like flaunting and throwing their money around like it’s nothing). Ten vehicles worth over 7 million dollars! Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the full treatment at a high-end spa. Absolutely ridiculous!

Even if you have enough money to do all of that, why in the hell would you want to? Why would you want to raise your child (or children) that way, spoiled with the very large risk of growing up feeling entitled? I am a mother of six children and it wouldn’t matter how much money I had, I would never want to raise my children to grow up feeling entitled; if I did, they may very well act the way Kim and Kanye act.

Am I jealous of their money? Hell no! I don’t even know how they’ve amassed so much money. I’ve only heard one song of his (the video that was hyped up on “Ellen” that had Kim K in it) and I thought the song was so stupid and the video ridiculous! How is that even music? (Maybe I’m just too old to understand, but I’m pretty sure that’s not music.) And I’ve never ever watched her show “The Kardashians” because why in the hell would I even care? It’s bad enough that Kim Kardashian and her ass are all over the internet, I damn sure don’t want to watch a show about it. (Kind of ironic that here I am, blogging about her, but oh well.)

I just couldn’t get over the nonsense I seen on that episode of “The Fabulous Life of”. I know they aren’t the only couple to do this. But I find it so shameful that people with loads of money think its okay to act and live and spend like that. How about another power couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? They’ve got tons of money and I’m sure they live a high and wonderful life and their kids are very well taken care of. But, though I may be wrong, I feel that they don’t flaunt their shit. Instead they seem to focus on each other and their family and Angelina seems to be very concerned with people and making a difference in the world, not with flashing her ass all over the internet.

People, be proud to have earned the money you’ve earned. Be proud to have made it your way. But have a little dignity and some real pride and don’t flaunt your shit all over the place. Us regular people don’t want to see that. And since Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have people like us to thank for helping them to be where they are, maybe they should reconsider their ways.

I don’t know, just a thought. What do you think?
